Moulin Rouge! The Musical was brought to life in Japan on 24 June 2023 in a licensed production by Toho Co., captivating sold-out audiences at Tokyo’s Imperial Theatre until 31 August 2023. Following this spectacular premiere season, overwhelming demand brought the production back to Tokyo in June 2024 for another sold-out run, before making its highly anticipated debut in Osaka.
The Japanese production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical dazzled audiences with two principal casts, featuring the talented Futo Nozomi and Ayaka Hirahara as Satine, and Yoshio Inoue and Shouma Kai as Christian. It was wonderful to see the songs featured in the show translated into Japanese, made possible by the talented efforts of seventeen musicians. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Toho and bringing Moulin Rouge! The Musical back to Japan someday in the future!
