We were delighted to license Moulin Rouge! The Musical to Stage Entertainment in the Netherlands and bring the splendour and romance to Utrecht. The production premiered at the Beatrix Theatre on 19 September 2024, marking the eighth instalment of Moulin Rouge! The Musical around the world. After an extraordinary run, it played its final performance on 16 July 2026. We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm, passion, and love that embraced the production from the very beginning and helped make its journey so unforgettable.

Performed in Dutch, with the iconic pop hits sung in Dutch and English, the production captivated audiences and critics alike, earning widespread acclaim, five Dutch Musical Awards, and seven additional nominations. Over the course of its run, more than 600,000 people experienced the Spectacular, making Moulin Rouge! The Musical one of the country’s most successful and beloved theatre productions in recent years.

They own and operate a network of sixteen theatres across the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, and Italy, including the Beatrix Theatre – home of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in the Netherlands. The same set, props, costumes, and wigs were all used for the Australian Tour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, which ran from November 2021 until February 2024. It took nine weeks to sail everything to Utrecht!

To fit the Australian scenery into the Beatrix Theatre, engineers had to remove part of the venue’s existing structure, including side walls, ceiling sections, and infrastructure in the stalls seating area.

The dazzling set featured a spectacular 5,100 lightbulbs — illuminating 12 unique chandeliers and over 2 kilometres of festoon lighting across the stage, overhead, and side walls. That’s a whole lot of sparkle!
